Introduction
Wildfire recovery begins with emergency response and continues through efforts to support families and communities, restore livestock and ranch operations, recover vegetation, and prepare for the future.
The Nebraska Wildfire Monitoring Network was created to support this transition from immediate disaster relief to long-term recovery. The network connects university researchers, Extension educators, and agency partners to provide coordinated support across livestock systems, cropland and water resources, and rangeland recovery.
Through this effort, producers and communities can access the most relevant expertise quickly, while the university and its partners document needs, monitor conditions, and report measurable recovery outcomes over time. Together, this network ensures that recovery efforts are informed, coordinated, and accountable as conditions evolve across Nebraska’s working landscapes.
From Response to Recovery
The university is here to support producers, landowners, and partners as recovery unfolds—by connecting people to the right expertise, coordinating field engagement, and building the information needed for long-term recovery decisions.
